Julie Mandarino, a certified Shadow Work® facilitator and coach, views her enthusiasm for Shadow Work® as a continuation of her life-long pursuit for emotional healing and spiritual awakening into divine love, both within herself and others.
This pursuit has guided her professional life, where she has endeavored to help people develop greater self-awareness along with their capacity for loving. Working largely in the arena of family relationships, she has specialized in relationship education and has offered counseling and relationship education for the general public for the past ten years. As a psychology professor, she incorporated this knowledge into her college courses on communication, child development, marriage, diversity, and family, while also redesigning traditional psychology courses to center on self-development. Julie’s professional endeavors mirror her spiritual quest for divine love. While in her teens, she started practicing meditation, later trained with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi to become a teacher of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique, and devoted 25 years to teaching the TM program in various parts of the United States and Europe. Integrating her knowledge of the Eastern approach to self-development with Western psychology, she completed a Ph.D. in East-West psychology. For her doctoral thesis, she researched emotional healing in individuals rising to higher states of consciousness and, as a result, gained unique perspectives on how our emotional experiences affect, and are in turn affected by, our spiritual development. When Julie was introduced to Shadow Work® in 2005, she saw in the Shadow Work® processes a set of tools more powerful for producing deep-level transformation than any therapeutic techniques she had encountered in her counseling work. And, through her facilitator training courses with Cliff Barry, she gained deep appreciation for his teachings on psychological dynamics, which she recognized as pushing the edge of modern psychology into new realms. Julie currently lives in Fairfield, Iowa, where she facilitates Shadow Work® groups with her husband Joe and the other Fairfield facilitators. In 2008, she left her position as a college professor and now spends her time creating new workshops as well as offering counseling, relationship education, and Shadow Work®. Recently, Julie partnered with Linda Brooks, another certified Shadow Work® coach and facilitator, to provide Shadow Work® coaching and group meetings for women. In particular, they have created a series of one-day workshops for women entitled, “Redefining Womanhood: Discovering Ourselves as Women Through Feminine Archetypes.” In addition, Julie leads women’s circles dedicated to cultivating awareness of the Divine Feminine. She is also training other women in circle leadership to further enliven the nurturing and healing qualities of the Feminine in the world. You can reach Julie by phone at (641) 472-1728 or by email at juliemandarino@gmail.com. |
