SECTION 1. SPRING CLEANING
^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^

With the sun rising a little earlier each morning,
it's the time of year for new growth, for renewed
excitement about what lies ahead. It's the perfect
      time of year to ask,

What have I accomplished since last spring?
And what remains to be done?

The things that remain to be done probably didn't
get done because we hit some resistance along
      the way.

Resistance often gets a bad rep. But Shadow
Work has a different take on resistance -- we
think it's trying to protect us from something.
Something it thinks would be worse than what's
      happening right now.

If you want to move forward, and reach your
goal this time, start by talking to your resistance.
Find out what it's trying to protect you from. You'll
learn why the way you've been doing things was
a good strategy at some earlier time in your life --
in fact, it was the best strategy available at the time.

It's the time of year for spring cleaning --
the time to dust off the decisions made long
ago that no longer serve your current goals, and
make conscious decisions about what to do next.

To talk to your resistance, call a Shadow Work
coach. Not only will it get you moving forward again,
you'll look back at your past with blessing and
      look forward with renewed optimism.

SECTION 2. BASIC TRAININGS TO BE HELD IN D.C.
^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^

The three Basic Facilitator Trainings (BFTs)
currently scheduled for 2005 will take place in
Brookeville, Maryland, in the Washington, D.C.
area. Which gives you a great choice of airports
to get frisked at: Baltimore, Washington Reagan
      (National), or Dulles.

      Those dates again are:

      Monday, May 2 -- Sunday, May 8
      Monday, August 22 -- Sunday, August 28
      Monday, December 5 -- Sunday, December 11

The Advanced Facilitator Training June 4-12 and
the Basic Coaching Training October 10-16 will
be held as previously announced, in a private home
in Boulder, Colorado, in the foothills of the Rockies.
Early June is just about perfect weather here, and
mid-October sees the aspen trees turning all shades
of gold and orange from peak to peak.

SECTION 3. SHADOW WORK AS CEREMONY
by Vern Saddleback
^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^

One of the reasons that Shadow Work is so
effective is that group facilitators create what we
call a "safe container." A safe container is an
environment in which all energies are welcome,
and a person can therefore do anything they
need to do. A Shadow Work coach also creates
a safe container when working with a client
      one-on-one.

My wife, Myra, and I lead Shadow Work groups in
Hobbema, in Alberta, Canada. Myra and I are
      Plains Cree Indians.

There are different ways to set up a safe container,
and Myra and I have recently been thinking along
some new lines, about Shadow Work as ceremony.

SECTION 4. CONNECTING THE DOTS
^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^

The concepts used in Shadow Work have been
extolled from myths, such as Iron John, the
Arthurian legends, and other non-sectarian fables.

If you've wondered how Shadow Work might
correlate with the core messages of Christianity,
Cliff is currently taking a look at that.

He's offering instruction and coaching in a new and
unique way of understanding both Scripture and life,
      for organizations and individuals.

If the idea of connecting the dots between Shadow
Work and Christianity excites you -- or if you have a
desire to bring the depth of Shadow Work into
Christianity, or vice versa -- please get in touch with
      Cliff at (303) 530-2840.

SECTION 5. WAKING UP WITH THE KING:
THE BURGER ARCHETYPES, by Jeff Baugher
^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^

The four-direction model is one of the most useful
concepts I have learned from Shadow Work. This
powerful system for understanding human dynamics
utilizes four basic archetypes -- Lover, Warrior,
      Magician and Sovereign.

The idea is that we possess certain innate qualities
by virtue of being human, and that adjusting one's
archetypal awareness creates new possibilities for
      living life more fully. ...

SECTION 6. FINAL THOUGHTS
^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^

"Nature, that fram'd us of four elements
Warring within our breasts for regiment,
Doth teach us all to have aspiring minds:
Our souls, whose faculties can comprehend
The wondrous architecture of the world,
And measure every wandering planet's course,
      Still climbing after knowledge infinite,
And always moving as the restless spheres,
Will us to wear ourselves, and never rest...."

-- Christopher Marlowe, from "Tamburlaine the Great"
