SECTION 1. CLIFF BARRY TO LEAD WORKSHOP ON
CLEAN TALK AT REGIS UNIVERSITY
^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^

Shadow Work founder Cliff Barry will lead a
two-day workshop on Clean Talk at Regis
University in Denver, Colorado, on November
17 and 18. The workshop is sponsored by
Regis's Institute for the Common Good (ICG)

      Given the ever-changing work environment,
knowing how to speak cleanly -- without
mixed messages and double entendres -- is a
      crucial skill in fostering collaboration,
      boosting innovation and guaranteeing
effectiveness. The workshop will teach you
      how to:

      * Communicate cleanly and authentically
      * Deliver difficult feedback and unwelcome
         messages
      * Strengthen your relationships
      * Maximize your effectiveness as a speaker

The workshop runs two days, Thursday and
Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 each day.
Registration is $125. For more information
or to register, contact ICG Project
Coordinator Katie Bruen at (303) 458-4967.

SECTION 2. VIRTUAL TOUR, STOP #2: IDEAL SUPPORT
by Alyce Barry
^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^

(Second in a series on the processes used
      in Shadow Work.)

Stop #2 is a process called Ideal Support.
      ...

In Stop #1 of our tour, a woman named
Blanche did a Warrior Run process and
learned how to stand her ground. She
identified the part of herself that was
standing in her way and used her anger to
push it out of the room.

Sometimes when a person does anger work
like this, they suddenly find their energy
flagging, as if they've run out of steam.
It usually means that there wasn't much
support for them to experience their anger
      when they were young. ...

SECTION 6. AN UNSCIENTIFIC, INCONCLUSIVE,
AND ENTIRELY INCONSEQUENTIAL HISTORY OF
THE POPULAR ACCEPTANCE OF PSYCHOLOGY,
by Alyce Barry
^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^

If you used magazine articles to research
a high school or college paper before 1990,
you probably used the "Reader's Guide to
      Periodical Literature." Your library may
even still have these thick green volumes,
the color of forest leaves in late summer
that are no longer nourished by the tree's
sap but aren't completely dead yet.

Once upon a time, I was an introvert ...
At that time, the "Reader's Guide" was a
close friend. It indexed a myriad of
magazines ... These days, I'm a lot more
extroverted, and so needed something to
keep me interested. The "Reader's Guide"
gladly obliged, giving me a quick-and-dirty,
      and thoroughly entertaining, overview of
articles written about psychology over the
      past 30 years. ...
