SECTION 1. THE "CLEAN TALK" CD NOW ON SALE!
COMMUNICATION TOOLS FOR GROUP LEADERS
^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^

Shadow Work Seminars is pleased to announce
the release of its latest CD, "Clean Talk" --
      Communication Tools for Group Leaders.

Clean Talk is a set of communication tools
that help you make any conversation safer and
more productive. Clean Talk is the method that
Shadow Work facilitators use to speak cleanly
and clearly, and especially when there is conflict
      present.

The word "clean" refers to Clean Talk's clear-cut
guidelines that help each person in the conversation
take responsibility for their part of what's happening
instead of placing the responsibility on someone else.

The Clean Talk tools help you prevent your shadows
from leaking out and hurting other people. Clean
Talk helps you build trust, and that trust will make
you more successful as a group leader.

The Clean Talk CD features the lively humor of
Shadow Work founder Cliff Barry and "Practically
Shameless" author (and newsletter editor) Alyce
Barry, who are brother and sister.

As Cliff says on the CD, "As a group facilitator, the
words that come out of your mouth are what you're
      selling. They're your bottom line."

      The Clean Talk CD

Priced at $19.95, the Clean Talk CD teaches group
leaders how to recognize and use all four channels
      of communication (assessments, feelings, wants,
and data). It also offers humorous examples of
the most common "no-nos" or misspeaks.

The Clean Talk CD also teaches Word Coaching,
a skill you can offer as a facilitator to help people
speak more cleanly in important situations.
Accompanying the CD are a map of the four
channels of communication and a cheat sheet
for Word Coaching in all four channels.

The Clean Talk CD is approximately 79 minutes
long and comes in a shatterproof plastic case.

For a list of Clean Talk's benefits, visit the Clean
      Talk CD page,

SECTION 2. A BENEFIT OF THE TRAININGS:
ENCAPSULATING A PROCESS IN CONVERSATION,
A Commentary by Alyce Barry
^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^

With each Shadow Work facilitation training
I've taken, I've developed a more finely tuned
awareness of the ways in which human beings
      get hurt.

With that fine-tuning process has come an ability
to apply that awareness in an increasingly
concentrated way, in fewer words and less time.

In the Basic Training, for example, I learned to
honor a person's Risk Manager. That means I
learned how to help a person discover the good
reasons for the decisions that he or she has made
earlier in life, and feel less shame and regret
      about those decisions.

When done in the usual way, an Honoring the
Risk Manager process might take anywhere from
ten minutes to an hour or more. The more
experience I've had in honoring my own and
others' Risk Managers, the more effectively I've
learned to do the honoring. With a more concentrated
grasp of the honoring process, I've sometimes been
able to honor a friend's Risk Manager in a sentence
      or two over lunch.

SECTION 4. WRITING THE SHADOW WORK BOOK,
PART THREE: YOU ARE NOT ALONE, by Alyce Barry
^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^

As I begin this third essay about writing "Practically
Shameless," I'm happy to report that I've sold nearly
all copies of the first printing and am beginning to
plan for a second edition. .

Friends in the publishing business warned me before
the book went to print that no matter how thoroughly
the manuscript was proofread by myself and others,
the book would still contain small errors, and that
      proved true. .

In addition to these small changes, however, there
are a few bigger decisions to make. One of them is
whether to explain further some of the more cryptic
passages. In Chapter 9, for example, when describing
my experience at the Woman Within initiation, I
wrote, "As I lay resting, looking into the faces of the
women surrounding me, I heard a female voice say,
'You are not alone.' The voice came not from anyone
in the room but from somewhere inside me, yet it
was as audible as if it had been spoken aloud." .
